I just purchased the K&N FIPK-II intake system and after reading all the threads that K&N filters just don't do the job, I was wondering if anyone has replaced the K&N filter with an AFE equivalent? I got this used at a great price, but I am kinda leery of using the K&N filter after all I have read here on the TDR.

Any information or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

K&N is Just Fine!

I've run K&N air filters since 1990 and have had great results. The key is to not overoil them. If it's used, I would clean it using the K&N cleaner and re-oil. Light on the tops of the ridges holding it horizontal. I never have oily film in my turbo; all clean. I run is pretty dusty envirionment. I installed queen sized knee-high women's stockings over it as well.

Note: This issue is a contraversal as oil, transmission, 1st/2d/3d gen, tires etc... For my 2 cents, you can't go wrong w/ K&N. I'd use it.

Thanks for the information gentlemen! I will just use the K&N filter and go from there. I drive on the highway 99% of the time so I should not have any problems. I do think I will get the foam prefilter for it though.

I knew y'all would have good information, thanks. . .
