Not one person out of a thousand ever sent his oil for a check up to see how It holding up. Until I got on the TDR forum I never know of anyone doing this. Every person drives different and different type weather. There city driving and long drives. I never knew where to send the oil to be checked.

any caterpillar dealer can give you a sample bottle kit and send it in for you, every so often, i send in a sample and compare it with the old one, just to see what is going on, very helpful, more helpful and accurate than hours or miles...

The closest Cat dealer Is about 75 miles from me and Flying J about 100 miles but I will check down at the local airport about this. I know this Is a good thing to do at least once a year I would say. Changing oil on a regular time Is the secret. Which most people do not do.

There's no o-ring in the Fram filters. It's the cardboard end caps on the filter media (normal filters use metal end caps) that come apart and clog ports in the engine.

Actually if you read the TSB explaination regarding filters, the [Fram] is built with a Neoprene Rubber sealing ring that deteriorates from the additional heat made by the 24-valves... those ports get plugged with deteriorated rubber.
