I have no problem with them.

Did a airfilter poll here a while back but can't find it. K&N came in second after the stock filter for the number of users here.

I was discussing the AFE Mega Cannon and the Scotty II with Rip Rook on the phone one day last week and I was  to find out that he runs the RE-0880

I figured he would run something like the 'Cannon or Scotty II, but he said he's like me screaming turbo doesn't appeal to him as much as others. :D

I also have been running one over 100K. Oil analysis has shown silicon averaging 5 ppm with the highest reading at 8 ppm. My truck is almost never off the highway - YMMV.

I'd like to add that I had a very positive experience with K&N customer service. When I went to service mine for the first time, I noticed there was a small hole in the rubber along one of the sides. Called K&N, expecting to have to jump though hoops, but they just sent a replacement - no questions asked.

My K&N has been in the stock-box over 70,000 miles. My last Oil Analysis Silicon number was 3! If you are running the K&N in the stock box you must bed the filter into a bead of grease, in the lower box, and for good measure run another bead of grease around where the top & bottom of the box fit together. Then leave it alone for the next 50,000 miles!

Had a K&N in my 96 for over 100,000 miles with no problems and over 60,000 in my 99. I have put AFE Megacannons on both truck-LOVE THAT TURBO NOISE. I have heard of complaints about dirt and oil getting into intake system but I have had no problems. I drive more than 50% of my miles on dirt (sand) roads. Dust is terrible in dry season. I just drilled and tapped my intake manifold(99) this am for mech boost gauge and despite having 88,000 miles on truck (87,500 on oil-air filter) the inside was clean and oil free.
