I just had the K34 recall done at local Dodge dealership 3 weeks ago on my 2010 3500 dually 4x4. Fuel mileage has dropped almost 2 M. P. G. ever since. What the heck did they do to me? Thinking about going to another dealer and ask for it to be re-programmed. Any suggestions?

wow, you too?!? I just called the dealer yesterday who did the flash on March 9th and set up an appointment for next week to take mine in. Mine is almost exactly 2 mpg, highway and city. I went from 19 mpg to not quite 17 on the highway at 70 mph.

My understanding is reflashes are permanent. Only Cummins has the original software program. Once it is altered or erased and replaced it is gone.

Expert dealer mechanics have told me that the reflashes don't reduce fuel economy. The lost fuel mileage is often a perception because we are suspicious and worrying about the changes we fear we'll experience after a reflash.

I had one done on my '08 and never could tell it was done.

I'm with Harvey. I'd like to know what kinda magic fuel you were burning to get 19mpg in a 2010 to start with. Honestly big numbers make me jealous, mine only gets 11. 5 tops, been 9. 2 the last 2 tanks. Be mad about the mileage but remember it could be worse.

Seems weird since all the posts on the Cumminsforum has just about everyone getting 2 mpg more, and even some say they noticed a differnce in how the autos shift. Of course just about all of them seem to have their EGR unplugged.

Mine has not been flashed that I am aware of, but I can tell you this, I am only getting around 13. 5 to 14. 5 MPG no matter how I drive it! Not at all like my 2003 NV-5600 was. I'm looking forward to the EGR delete! EVERYTHING else about the truck... ... ... ... ... I LOVE!

I had the flash done 2 weeks ago and haven't seen a change in mileage on the overhead. I've got 25,000 miles on it now and maybe I'm seeing an extra mpg, but that could be wishfull thinking. If I baby it, I can see 17 mpg. but every day driving is more like 13-15mpg. And towing a 16,500 gvw horsetrailer this past weekend I only saw about 7. 5mpg running a steady 75mph. What can you say? It's just the price you pay to have the best!! On a side note. . it's still pretty cold out here, still below freezing.

Harvey is right on this one the dealer does not have the ability to return an ecm to an earlier software pkg. When an issue is discovered a new # flash would be released.

I have not heard any decrease in fuel mileage on the 2010's flash... . yet anyway
