Competition Question for ATS!

Competition Rear tire air pressure for racing?

SnowMan,

I tow less than you but when I do I do it right. Almost always at or near(above) GVWR. I'd like to race as a hobby. . and pull 2-3 cars to the track where I out run a crowd of muscle cars w/a 7500# tow rig;):)

Mark,I just started racing the truck last week, and unfortunately, since the fast and furious came out, anyone under 25 seems to think a muscle car is a 1. 6 liter Honda with a 4" muffler, roll cage, and a turbo on it. I raced one muscle car Tran am,and one fast Import Eagle Talon AWD,and beat both, both ran in high 13's,so i think my truck is in that high 13 sec range right now, which amazes me,it feels slower, and the stock turbo, and late 3-4 shift really hamper it in the 1/4 mile. Both cars were catching me at the end of the 1/4 mile,as my truck was defueling in OD with 4. 10,its time for the competition Edge comp, and B1.

Hey Kat, that guy in the camaro was probobly real happy to get whooped by a 4 ton pickup, 4 wheel drive no less, with a DEISEL!!!NICE RUN!!!!!

Kat, not to ruin your fun, but you should try to do one thing at a time, so when your times go down, you know what caused it.

I am doing it in steps, or at least trying to. Injectors this Thursday. transmission will be next. New turbo technology whenever its available.

I'm just making a mental list is all.....

Kat, A cloth tonneau could be gotten pretty cheap. I bet I could rig one up with a tarp some bolts and a few pieces of flat bar and small square tubing. It doesn't have to be fancy to test the concept.

An air dam on the front of the truck to reduce air flow/turbulence underneath would do great things. To make one you'd have to have a sheetmetal brake and shear and a little time.

The B1 shines on the top side where the HX's fall short.

I'm a picky SOB thats why I haven't decided on a tonneau cover yet. I have an air dam... . its part of my ram air system (hole right below the liscene plate). I'm interested in Kurts AT4..... I went B1 for durabilty reasons.

Kat, we're doing Mark's trans right now. 93% race converter, light 3-4 shift spring, etc. We're also going to do the 3-4 shift solenoid switch. I'm hoping to get it to the track this weekend with the same power, just with the new TC and 3-4 shift working to see the differences.

I hope you get a chance to. I'm gonna try and go back to the track this Sunday. . but chances are slim on this sunday (its a normal workday for me). Once the track (KCIR on Wed and Heartland on Thursdays starting April 1st) I can pretty much go whenever. Also the one close to me opens in April.

Just think... . if I can get it into the 12's before I see you in May about a CAM =

I am very anxious to see what adjusting the transmission does for you. Also I am curious to see when we compare trucks... is our different gear ratios. what size tires does Mark's truck have? And have you weighed that thing yet? I'll try to weigh mine this week. It just dawned on me..... i'm not running as much power as you are... yet ;) Your cheating with that VP44!!! Hehehe

What kind of gains are you expecting from the transmission adjustments?

Kat, are you ready for the KS AT-4 Turbo??? I have finished testing it on my truck and boy is it fun! I have to test another Turbo Combination on my truck so the (AT-4) is off and ready for the race track. :D P. S. Have John I. Call me..... 505-534-0434 Kurt

As long as it will bolt up..... I'm ready to play with it.

The B1 is perfect for durabilty..... but I have thoughts of the KwikSpool haunting me... ..... the intemidating idle, the lightning quick spool... ... ... . I miss it. The B1 is slightly slower on the spool up. So if this new turbo is anything like the KS I had. . I'll love it.

I'll call you later today.

The AT4 ... wastegated?

I'm real interested to see how the B1 will react to the DD cam. And the AT4 should be even better... . your going to May Madness right?

Kat, By MayMaddness I will have a couple of extra B-1's and maybe a AT-4 or other Combination with me... I have 35 Turbo's on the way almost finished... and 27 or so are sold. After this first backorder comes in I hope to stay ahead of demand. One nice thing is They will all interchange in a matter of minutes. We can switch them between runs at the track?? :D

AIR quality,Winds,Total Weight,Tires, Rims,Exh,Engine mods,Trans mods,Driver and yes THE TURBO;) oh yes dont forget the FUEL.

Uh the only thing that changed was the turbo. With both the KwikSpool HX40 and now the B1. The point of this post was to show the B1 one can be used in drag racing if so desired.

I have ran 13. 4x's with the KwikSpool HX40 and the B1, where as before best I could must was 13. 9x. So yes the turbo did make a difference.

On the 18th I hope to run the B1, then swap in the AT-4 right there at the strip... . then I will see exactly what difference the TURBO will make.
