Just got done doing the fix on my 99 24V and found out I had the old case, not the "improved" one! Something for use 24V guys to think about. By the way my build date is 10-98.

HoverLover,

did you do your fix with a jig ?

I have a 98. 5 and should probably do mine... was it a hard thing to do ? I live down near Colorado Springs...

Thanks,

kdp fix

Yes, I used the jig fix. The reason I know I had the old case is it was only about 1/2 inch thick! No way could it stop the pin from coming out! As far as how hard it was? Piece of cake! A guy came up from the Springs and we did both trucks, his 12V and my 24V in about 3. 5 hrs. That included a trip to NAPA to get a new belt for his truck. The kit is VERY nice! Also I fat fingered a word on my last entry I typed use instead of us. Oh well.

My build date was 10/27/98 (Cummins). I had the improved case. It was difficult to tell whether or not I had the improved case. The dowel pin bore has a very slight lip edge around its circumference and its not obvious. I ended up dragging a sharp edge "dental" hook in the bore to determine I had the stepped hole. With oil buildup it would be difficult to notice if you have the improved case from just a glance. Just a hint to those who take the cover off I guess.

I went ahead and staked the hole and added green wicking loc-tite for triple security. I tapped it back in 0. 005"... so mine really hadn't moved anyway.
