Has anyone seen this type of tab and is this the original timing cover, if not what year is it? The truck is a 97 Club cab 4x4 no mods yet by the way just purchased truck 2 weeks ago have been waiting to get this done so I can at least drive it.

Never seen it like that before but looks like it will work. Did you check the case bolts while you were in there too? Congrats on the new truck and enjoy that great fuel mileage!

Just a home made one... . I have seen guys make them instead of buying them. The tab kits aren't that old and most guys just made their own.

That does not look like any of the covers I have seen on a 12 valve, it has a step up at the pin, most are flat there. Is it possible the cover has been replaced?

Its always a good idea to mark in plan site that this upgrade was done for future reference. I did mine on the tag on the hood, cover, and owners manual. But most people that have the vulnerable engine have no clue how important this repair is. For the inside bolts, good that you checked it out.

That actually looks like a safety "keeper" for a bolt, whatever works though? Anything beats the alternative.

ill agree with that. the covers that i have seen are different but will work. mine fell out and if yours does for some crazy reason dont use JB weld like the person did before me it doesnt work to good.
