Well I finaly did it. My pin was on the move. It was out 1/4 inch.
The bolts inside the cover were hand loose!! You guys using the jig method BEWARE THE KILLER BOLTS!! Iam ever so glad I did this fix. Everything came apart easy. You got to use some WD40
on that fan nut. Then it comes loose easy. I used a 14inch pipe
wrench on the outer shell of the pulley and a 35 mm long handle
open end wrench. I fashioned a tab out of 1/8 band iron. My pin taped
back in real easy. The bigest problem in the whole job was that
B******* Dam SEAL !! Use a brass punch to tap the edges in. Then use the tool included in the kit to push the seal the rest of the way in. I found out the hard way that it was easier to install the plasitc guide into the cover from the inside out. The wider part facing in towards the end of the shaft. Then I installed the cover onto the shaft from below. It was easier on my back and you can see what your doing better. Holding the crank shaft using a screw driver in the barring tool hole was a pain. Take my advise and invest in the barring tool. With everything back together I ran it till hot and changed the oil and filter. If you plan to do this job make sure your knees are good. I'm in real pain now after this 8 hour job. For those who own 97 trucks here is all my info off my engine plate. Your pin may be on the move !!!
