I am in the process of addressing the kdp problem. I'm having trouble removing the engine vibration damper. My impact wrench won't fit between the radiator and the damper. I can't find a barring tool locally. I have read that the inspection plate by the flex plstr/starter ring gear can be removed and a screwdiver or bar can be inserted to keep the engine from turning. Can someone tell me exactly where to find this inspection plate? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just put a socket on the alternator nut, with a long handel . I have a baring tool from cummins to do mine ,before I had the tool I used the alternator method. Hope this helps.

Thanks FourBarR for your suggestion. I had tried the socket on the alternator nut, but the belt just slipped. I finally welded up a jig to fit between three of the bolt heads at a time to keep the crank from turning. With the help of two hands from my wife to hold the jig I was able to work my way around and loosen all four bolts. I guess necessity is the mother of invention. Thanks for your help.
