Thanx

enes,

We (JoshPeters) are planning a get together at Torque Diesel Performance in Elk River on May 8th. I'm sure we could all get this done. A bunch of us got together a while back at Joshs place and killed a few dowel pins.

Check out the below link for more information:

Time is short, but you should attempt to get the jig before we get together, unless you were planning to go the tab route. I don't remember who is in control of the jig for are region, but do a search within the forums and you should find it.

You should not hesitate to have this fixed. Give Tim a call at Torque Diesel Performance in Elk River a call he can get you all fixed up. (763) 441-7696.

I think the KDP fix is just for the 12 valves... isn't it? Which reminds me I still have to do it to my 96. I stand corrected, I went to the link on the post, I guess it's for the 24's too up to 99. I always thought it was a 12 valve issue only and it was corrected in early 98 before the 24 valves came out... . now I have 2 trucks to do. :( Hopefully I can make it to the meet and maybe enes and I could each get one done.

KDP confirmed up to year 2000 by Bill Fleming (illflem). We confirmed it as far back as 1990 at the October Dyno Day.

Unless Tim has a KDP jig the closest shop I know to the Twin cities is a 4-5 hour drive.

Mike's Custom Trucks in Northwood, ND purchased a jig a couple years ago.

Ryan (Cooker) is the keeper of the regional CPFF jig. PM him for availability.

Ill call the TDP in Elk River to see if he has the jig, if he don't then i'll just wait... I already have 98k miles. . so its tight with the milage now :)

He doesn't have a jig but he does have "tabs" which do the same thing. Give Tim a call he can fill you in on the pro's of the tab method

Enes,

If your front crank seal is leaking, do the tab method. The other thing to think about is... right next to that KDP, is a bolt that usually comes loose over time. It's best to pull that cover, and tab the KDP and lock-tite the bolts for the case.

Just my . 02.

Josh

PS I used the jig method as a temporary fix till I can do the tab.

Yeah, i am calling now to make an apointment, the truck is a 2000 with 98k miles on it as of now, there is a bit of oil blow by which the morons at the oil change never emptied out ...

so now i'm out of waranty almost and am going to be doing all my own maintenance.

I took the car over to Torque Diesel Performance in Elk River and had them check it out, they said that on the truck i have its steped where the KDP is so it didn't need to be done. they locktited the bolt replaced the crank seal and it should be all fine and dandy now, i did notice a few drops of oil on the driveway this morning so i'll have to check that, i've never had the truck leaking so i just left it there this morning and drove the car. . got to check it right away maybe it just needs to be re-sealed or something. .
