TDR Members,

I did the KDP kill fix last night. Took me 3 hours as I poked along and took my time... could do it in an hour now that I know how...

Anyway, I used the jig kit I got from TDR Member TFabian who is controlling the Virginia area for TDR members.

The thing works great. The difference from the one Illflem has provided directions for in the forum is that this one drills in at about a 45 degree angle as opposed to the 90 degree angle that requires removal of the alternator. This allows you to actually see the dowel pin in its bore and to use a punch to drive it back in before setting a screw into the hole to keep her stuffed in there for good.

I liked the ease of use and the ability to see the inside of the case. I used a vacuum cleaner to pressurize and blow out chips as I drilled. This worked well for me as I have no compressed air source.

I only had to unship the overflow bottle and washer bottle and loosen the fan shroud (and removed the fan) to do the work. Reached right in. You will need a 90 degree (some call it a close quarters drill) drill to get into the jig as a full size cordless or electric is just too long to fit. So I went to Sears and got a spiffy Milwaukee Electric drill to add to my tool kit (just don't tell my wife!).

Well, the critter is fixed and I can sleep at night.

And now, I urge all of you to take the time and fix that KDP. It is worth the time and effort. Thanks to the folks who are providing these kits... . a valuable service indeed!

Oliver88 you are next on the KDP list but your PM mailbox is full! Send me a PM so I can get your address and send the jig to you!
