Gee... a lot of help (not!)

I e-mailed Cummins asking if there was any way to know if a 24 valve engine had the revision to keep the dowel from walking. Here is the detailed response.

There would be no outwardly way to inspect the front cover and dowel pin. The only way would be to remove the front cover.

If I remember right there was a member back in '01 that had a KDP failure on his 1999 24V. What I do remember is when that post went up you would swear that all at one moment in time everybody's front yard exploded and panic set in. :-laf Within secconds it grew to 80 or so posts. I gotta try and dig it up.
 
Bottom line still is, if there is any doubt, just address it and then quit worrying about it.



Nothing will make you crazier than guessing if it's ok or not. Just treat it like it's not and be done with it.
