I've tried to confirm that the '93 has the KDP problem, but all the searching and FAQ reading netted me nothing. All I can find is info on the '94 and up. Can someone please confirm that this is something we need to check? My friend just got this '93 with 198,000 miles and if it's an issue I want to take care of it now!

Mine was so loose that when my mechanic took the cover off he pilled it out by hand. He told me I was very lucky. Ive seen pictures of what it can do when the come loose bad news.

You need to remove the 4 bolts inside the case that you can get on top of--one above the oil pump, one next to the KDP, two behind the cam gear windows. The fifth can be accessed from a cam window if you bend an open end wrench (10 mm) to reach through the window and over toward the gear teeth to get on it. Also check the cam retainer bolts and oil pump bolts for tighteness.

Yes, my KDP did end up in my oil pan... I found it stuck to my drain plug!

Holy $%&# I said!

Anyways, the weekend before I found it on my drain plug... I got stuck bad while four wheeling while on a sidehill and the front of my truck slid down the hill... . while I was sitting there boucing and swinging the truck around trying to get it unstuck, I think the KDP dropped out IN FRONT of the gears instead of IN THEM because the truck was pointed downhill... quite sharply! :(

Lucky me! :D

W:eek:W! Dam are you ever lucky. How many miles did you have on tha rig at that point? Jeez i wish someone who did the kdp lived a little closer to the center of the Great White North! Im kinda chicken to tinker with it :/
