Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) KDP Question

In the process of replacing front cover gasket and saw all the posts about the KDP. Am now going to tab it. Just want to verify that the KDP should be flush with the casing as mine is sticking out 1/8". Anything special I should know about knocking it back in? Thanks!

Just give it a few sharp licks. If it doesn't move then grind a little offset in the tab so it fits to the gear case around the screw. Mine was that way. I banged on it a few times and it didn't move. The rest of the ones I have done were flush or a couple of hits drove them back in.

Make sure the bolts inside the case are tight.
