Hello to all, I am new to this site and first time CTD owner. I have been reading about the KDP problems and owning a 1999 I am concerned. Last night I used a bore scope, going in through the breather filter hole and looked in on my dowel pin. From pictures I saw on this site I have a housing that has the built-up dowel pin boss. From my research I believe that that is an updated housing. My question is, do I still need to do something to prevent the pin from coming out or do all the updated housings have the captive land in the dowel pin hole?

Thanks for all the info and help.

Can you tell me....

where to find a bore scope and did you go in through the breather tube? Did you remove the tube and go in through where the tube attaches? How much do the bore scopes go for?:)

bore scope

Rashwor;

I accessed the dowel pin by removing the breather hose and then unscrewing the breather filter. Once remover you see the forward side of the injector pump timing gear ( I think, remember i'm new to this CTD stuff) The bore scope (borescope) is a fiber optical viewing instrument used in many fields, in my case it's aircraft engine repair and service. They are spendy and sold by many aircraft repair and supply distributors.

Less than an hour of your time for piece of mind..... I say do it anyhow. Get on the list for the jig in you area, it's free.
