KDP removal

Killer dowel pin gurus !

Can those dowel pins just be done away with ?

Do they really serve a purpose?

Has anybody deleted them without removing the gear case cover?What is the easiest way to nuetralize them ?

Mine have just got to go , and I mean soon

I don't think you can remove one unless it's loose. First of all it doesn't protrude far enuff to get hold of. It's made of pretty hard steel so I don't think you can drill it. The only solutions I know of are the jig and installing a blocking tab.

Thanks Joe. The jigs don't seem to be heading this way yet, and pulling the cover sounds like a p. i. t. a. Sounds like I better study up on putting a blocking tab in it.

Josparkz, look at the bright side. You would have to remove the cover anyway to remove the KDP. My cover removal was time consuming but after doing it and then reviewing the tips from others I saw where I could have done it a lot easier and faster. You have the benefit of all our experience (mistakes too) and you will feel a lot better after it's done.
