Hello again gentleman! Well, the oil leak i asked about last week turned out to be a cracked timing housing from the KDP. It looked EXACTLY like the photos in the link Joe George referred me to... THANKS JOE !!!!!!!! Anyway, i have the truck apart to where the housing cover is off, but I am afraid to go any further because of the injection pump removal. I have the Service Manual from Dodge and an engine barring tool, but I am not familiar with how to make sure the pump is timed correctly on instal. any pointers would be appriciated... . also if there are any TDRers out there who live in the New Jersey area that have info on this fix or pulling the 5. 9 out of the truck I could use some help because I will probably be pulling the motor to do a head gasket job, as mine has developed a leak next to the thermostat housing. I also have a little oil residue leaking out between the exhaust manifold gasket and the block on #1 cylinder. I may be putting in new sleaves, rings, pistons,etc,etc..... Soooo if you like to turn wrenches and your in the area E-mail me. P. S. does anyone have the part #s for the gaskets, front main seal, and a new housing?

The housing is as an undapted part with a tapered opening to hold the dowel pin in place. No tab or washer needed.

The number I will give you should give Cummins an upfit # to get the gear housing you'll need.

Gear housing # 3920519

rear housing gasket is # 3916131

front cover gasket is # 3918673

main seal # 3904353

Upper engine set if you do the entire top of the engine is

standard thickness head gasket upper kit# 3802363

. 25m thicker head gasket upper kit # 3802364

. 50mm thicker head gasket upper kit# 3802245

If you do the shortblock the lower engine gasket set is

#3802376

You gotta pull the cam to get the gear housing off. You dont need to pull the injection pump off, only the gear.

When you go to Cummins take your CPL # and serial # from the data plate on the old housing. Be ready to wait for some gaskets to be brought in from the warehouse. They never seem to have them all at one time.

Don~

One other thing to note is that the engine timing is set by where the pump gear is on the shaft. So after you pull the gear you will have to retime it when you put it back together. Chris at Autowurks is an expert on that business.
