Casey,

Can you change your radiator yourself? If so, you can do this job with ease all by yourself. The hardest part of the job was getting the fan clutch off. You tighten it to loosen it.

The front cover is a breeze to get off and the front seal kit has a special depth washer that prevents you from driving it on too far. I did my first last sunday and found it too easy, almost like I had to rethink why I put it off so long.

The KDP jig kit was an awsome invention someone planned. A very nice quick way to do a bunch of trucks, but I was nervous of the other bolts loosening up, so I passed on the jig.

If you go to the TST web site you can order their kit w/good instructions, it does not come with the cover gasket but uses RTV which has not leaked in mine for about 3 years now. Remember the fan clutch is left hand thread. If you are pulling the radiator the job is a piece of cake.

i can make a tab and get a bolt, i already have loctite and rtv, i guess all i really need is the seal, know where to source one of those (cheap)?

Like they said just use some RTV... my bro did it to his 95 and has not had the problem... . and also he didn't put the tab in his truck... he just left it out. He hasn't had a wink of trouble yet... but thanks for putting this on here... . when I get home in december I should take a look at my 97 cause I don't know if mine was done yet or not... .

Hello Casey, just did mine and just took top radiator hose off and fan did come out without a problem. Removing your radiator and intercooler would make the job a breeze, but takes a little more time and draining coolant. The biggest problem is definitly the 36MM Fan nut. I did notice that not having the radiator out it is kinda hard to see the dowel pin. Mines was sticking out a little and just punched it back in. Not much room to swing a hammer though. :) A engine barring tool is really nice to have so you can turn the engine over a little to get to the 2 case bolts under the camshaft gear, a little tricky, but found mine took about 1/4 turn to 18 ft lbs. Glad I re-torqued all of them. The vibration damper can go on anyway and not worry about a key way as there is none. I used the TST kit and the crank seal kit and the plastic sleeve worked great. Mine took longer because I had problems with the removal of fan nut and the o-rings in the drain plug in radiator were wiped out and it leaked. All in all not a bad job and when you get through you will feel much more at ease knowing your dowel pin wont distroy your engine. :) Going to do my friends 94 in a couple of weeks when we get though doing his 98 housing. Yes his dowel pin came out and blew a hole through the housing. . ! :) The parts alone were about 500. 00 ! :) Thats what scared me and I did mine right away! :) Good luck and yes you can do it, no problem. . :) Russ
