Yesterday, I did the tab repair on my KDP with a tab fabbed from 18 guage cold rolled steel. The truck had a front crank seal leak when I bought it, so I knew I would have to go in the front case anyway. When I got in there, no gasket by the way, there was a big glob of ??? on the dowel pin that scraped right off. I degreased and used the wicking Locktite like the factory fix says and then tabbed it with a homemade tab and long bolt with blue Locktite. The other bolts were tight, so I left 'em alone.

The front seal went in easily which was a good thing as my 15 year old son was home from school by then and was helping out. I am trying to get my sons to learn how to do a few things so it was nice to have things go as they should, for a change. While we were at it, we did some preventative maintenance; I had my son replace the water pump and put on a new Gatorback belt. :D Then we tackled the hoses; boy am I glad I bought the band clamp pliers from Geno's. Important lesson; the job goes much easier with the right tools.

Anyway, an afternoon well spent; my son was a little disapointed though, as I didn't teach him any new words like when I showed him how to drywall. ;)

Now, time for gauges and the #10 plate and 370's I salvaged from my old truck. Ah, the smell of roasting clutch at dawn; smells like victory.
