KDP.......Thanks

Pulled my tim. cover today to check my kdp (wasnt going to but I read MDW's post & figured might as well, my father was a heavy line mech. for over 13 years and has every tool you can think of, it only took me 20 min. to tear down.



Ohh my THE PIN WAS HANGING 5\16 OF AN INCH OUT !!!!

The only thing holding in in was the suction the oil was making around the KDP. I PULLED IT OUT WITH MY FINGERS!!!!



I just wanted to say thanks to illflem & MDW & everyone else for driving this point into the ground. ( CHECK YOUR KDP)

By the way since I've got the cover off what should I set my timing at?

Yeah, those ugly pics of my gear housing should convince just about anyone that this is a real problem.

Piers told me any more than 16 degrees could cause head gasket problems.

Since my truck is down waiting for my new transmission, I tabbed my KDP today. Made a tab out of an old Sawzall blade. My pin was only about 1/32" out, but the relief of knowing it CAN'T come out now is worth it.

Technically... . anything more than stock timing (12°-14. 5°) will cause head gasket problems.
