Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) kdp

ok so this may sound stupid but my freind and i where discussing the likes and dislikes about 12 and 24 valve motors and we where wondering whats the point of the kdp besides assembly and to fall out whats its purpose and why not just take it out if its not useful

It (KDP) along with a second blind dowel pin are used to precisely align the gear housing to the block. Also, the two dowels offer some support to the gear housing, which must bear the weight of the injection pump.

ok so it is a rather important piece then kool i wwas just wondering since we only ever hear about how its a pain and stuff
