I've been reading the posts on KDP, and I read the tech bulletin on it, but I have a couple of questions.

1. The jig fix, I take it that you drill a hole in the cam housing and install a bolt that will keep the Dowel Pin in?

2. The kit from TST, what does it consist of? Do you still have to take off the cam housing cover?

3. The truck I have already has a leak around the timing cover, so which method would be the best method to fix the problem, and how much time is involved with each?

Thanks

If you are going to have the cover off anyway use the tab method,if not, the jig all the way... . Rick

OBTW to answer the question yes the jig you drill into the gear case and a screw is threaded into that and it holds the pin... . I believe the TST is the tab style... ...

Here is a good write up on the jig fix:

I did the tab fix on my ISB. Neil also pulled his front cover off for a tab fix, but he discovered he had the improved timing gear case that encapsulates the dowel pin. So, didn't need to do the tabbing. We have a couple of dowel pin pictures here:

If you decide to tab the pin, you can also get all of the same parts which are in the TST kit from Cummins. They have a part number for the tab. Its called a "Tabbed Washer, part #3958017.

Or buy a longer bolt and cut a pice of steel and drill a hole in it.
