Rotating Tires - how often?

Power Poll II

Keep it have a friend start/drive it once in a while if possible. The only thing seperating me from my truck is death and I may have a plan to take it with me anyway. :)

I wouldn't sell mine if I had to leave it for 5 years!

Ideally you have someone you can trust to drive it. I'd have them start it weekly and put some miles on it every 3-4 weeks, at least 50. I'd keep the tank topped off and a good additive/stabilizer in there. Keep insurance and tags current and make sure they drive it.

Otherwise I'd prep it for storage like "winterizing" a boat. I don't know about coal-burners but there is a product to "fog" the cylinders on gassers before storage. I'm sure there's some info somewhere about dry-docking a diesel truck.

I would keep it, but I'm not sure if I would start it every so often.

Is it good for the motor to be started 50 times dry? or just let it sit?

I would go to some Extreme winterizing lengths, and keep it. Think about how many miles you will save. it would be nice to come back to YOUR truck, and have saved the whole years worth of miles.

Just my $. 02

I would sell it, it is only a frickin' truck after all.

I spent 6 weeks trying to find the truck I wanted--using the internet 2-4 hours per day. Then I drove 600 miles one way to buy it. I've installed every BOMB mydangself--except for the window film. I visited it ever day in the body shop. I watched it sit 3 weeks waiting to get into the body shop.

I drove my last truck 9. 5 years. This one is for the long haul. :D

Just a frickin' truck--maybe yours...

Dad bought the one I own new in late 92. I have had it since 95. Got little over 200,000 one the clock, many miles of use some of abuse, and its spent some time broken but it will never leave my possesion or be replaced until I can't drive it any more. Many people have tried to buy it but its not for sale EVER!

Its not just a fricken truck, to me any way. Even my wife tells me I can never sell it!!!Oo.

keep it !

I'ld fill that thing to the gills w/ oil to prevent any condensation

seal the intake & exhaust then load it w/ moth balls for rodents

then lock the barn chicks in the gun safe

To me it would depend on what you would replace it with. I'd like to have a 3rd gen truck, so I'd use the opportunity to sell it and save the money over the next year and get a new one. If you prefer a 2nd gen truck, then keep it.

If I were to be seperated from mine for a year [presumably due to being behind bars! :D ] it'd probably rack up almost as many miles as if I were there: SWMBO has already informed me that, if I ever buy another truck, this one's HERS! ;)

There is a 3rd option - Loan it 2me and I will make sure to put about 8,000 mostly towing miles on it in the year and will give it a bath once a month as well as change the vital fluids accordingly:D

Wait now TN is closer than OR

If you're going to leave it with a diesel dude.

I don't have a carport, but can throw a tarp over it and plug it in on cool nights. No towing. :p

If it is the truck you have listed in your sig. I would keep it since you will never get the value of your bombs in a private sale. Also if you sell it you have only 30-60 days to buy a new truck in most states to get the tax break. Just make sure you store it correctly. I think the members have given you some good advice.

KEEP IT!!!

It took me 6 months searching the internet and a 750 mile round trip to get my truck. The last of the 12 valves, the first of the Quad Cab. I will NEVER get rid of this truck.

That's exactly what I was looking for and "settled" for the truck I have now. Eventually, I'll get a 12v to play with. ;) I can see owning 2 or 3 trucks easy.

I'm undecided as well.

I may have to leave my truck at home for an undetermined amount of time.

My brother has his eyes on it - IF I sell it, I'll only sell it to someone I know.

Wow, some of the responses make me wonder if some of you guys have ever seen a real live female human naked in person... .....

My truck is like the other umpteen thousand made in 99 and very very close to the umpteen hundred thousand made between '98. 5 and '02. The mods I have made are off the shelf items that can be purchased again if desired, no gold plated or one-of-a-kind supermods for me. It is just a frickin truck, that could easily be replaced mods and all.
