Competition "How Do You Like Me Now" Mod on the road to Vegas...

Competition Cast Camshaft Limitations

A little background info.

Dear Fellow Offroad Enthusiasts,

Back in the 70's, the wilderness area north of highway 78 was instituted by Congress and the rest of the dunes were intended for motorized recreation in perpetuity. We all know how that turned out. Along come other groups that want to close the rest of the area.

In the past, concessions have been made allowing other lands to be designated Wilderness, while leaving remaining lands open to Multiple Use. Contrary to these past agreements Wilderness advocates now want the remaining lands.

There is a petition that works to make this tactic outdated. CLICK HERE to sign it.

Pass the link on to as many pro-access people you know.

Okay, take a deep breath and lets have a discussion. :)

It appears the petition has a lot of, shall we say, inaccurate statements? The areas proposed are not "CLOSED". I'd suggest doing a google search and read the acts for yourself... if you are really interested. I'm more familiar with the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act. Although, I will admit only cursory knowledge because it will not happen because the states affected do not have congressional support... . SO IT ISN"T GOING TO HAPPEN. No matter how much sense it makes. There are a number of categories including wilderness, national parks, and connecting corridors. These areas are not closed because I visit them all the time. How about you?

Whilst you are perusing the map of the proposed NREPA notice how much of the country is not included. Looks like plenty of opportunity for folks to do their camping to me. The primary areas affected fall under the Clinton Roadless Rule, and as such, didn't have roads for the majority of the petition signers to use anyway. Think about the places you go typically go camping in you vehicles... . would these places be included? Nope there is a road there. Get the idea.

I doubt if I'll persuade anyone differently, but what irks me is gross misrepresentation and panic. Thanks for listening you may go ahead, get worked up, and throw a hiss fit. :-laf

Is it the proverbial flame suit time?;)

In my opinion, eventually, all open public areas will be closed. The people that really run things like the worlds economy etc. have an agenda. For their agenda to work they must have control over us by taking away guns, controlling our money, and herding us into city areas when necessary etc.

They will continue to nibble away slowly at the open land, so that it isn't to painful for us. If they were to make all their changes all at once we would revolt... ..... quick duck..... Black Helicopters:-laf

I do think it is just a matter of time though.

I am over the 1/2 century mark, and I have seen way too many closures  In MANY cases when they can't make it happen one way they go after it using another excuse. Glamis is a prime example. Ol traildog do a little back ground checking on what has happened there already and what they are trying now.

I was lucky in being able to see Death valley before all the closures there,My grandchildren will never have that experience :(

We all need to stick together for keeping areas open for everyone, trucks, motorcycles, horses. hikers etc. and be considerate of each other. I signed and am glad to do so. Tyranny will abound if good people do nothing.

We're going through similar stuff in Nevada at Sand Mountain outside of Fallon. There is some "endangered" butterfly that lives in the area. (If the last butterfly died, they wouldn't be endangered anymore. :-laf ) They haven't shut the dune down... yet. But they'll take the opportunity if it presents itself. There are numerous cases of snowmobiles being pushed out of certain areas because they bother the xc skiers and snowshoers. Also because some of the snowmobilers can't stay out of the wilderness area. Some cases, the users really are hurting their own interests.

I am getting fed up with the whiney "everything bothers ME" people. It's too loud. It's too scary. It makes dust. In Reno, they are closing off lots of areas to shooting, offroading, etc. because people move all the way up the hill until they back up to BLM or FS land. Then they complain about people actually using public land. Same type of people who move next to an airport and then want the flight path changed because there are airplanes!

AMink,

Yeah save the butterfly, what's the next step for these wackos?

Oh I know... ..... we better shut down neighboring Hwy 50 or we could lower the speed limit to 10 mph! We sure don't want to smash the last one on a windshield!
