Jeremiah I'm lazy, can you PM me the answer so I don't have to think about it anymore?

I had a cat problem too with strays, they always seemed to go on the truck with muddy feet right after I washed it. I called the SPCA and complained about some nasty cats, they set up some traps and no more cats. They really don't do any damage to the truck though, its just irritating to come out in the morning and see the little footprints all over the hood and windshield.
Fried or baked ? Ron in Louisville KY ?=3

Only other answer I can think of is 3 minutes for a 100 cats and rats. It seems as long as there is that 1:1 ratio the time will be based on that. As long as the number of cats equals the number of rats will it always be 3 minutes?

Right, but the question is, how many cats will it take to eat 100 rats in 100 minutes? Don't go changing things on me or I'll get confused.

I always heard that using a "water pistol" to discourage such behaviors. May I would suggest this company just scroll down to the FP10600. It is the total embodiment of the TDR forums. Others may remember their motorcycle from the movie "Torque". Homepage Oo.

ABSOLUTELY! I teach a 12-year-old boy remedial reading and even he figured it out after awhile. That's why I kept hinting to go back to the beginning. If three cats can eat three rats in three minutes, that means they eat one rat per minute.

Or five rats in five minutes.

Or 20 rats in 20 minutes.

OR 100 RATS IN 100 MINUTES!

Congratulations! You win the prize!

Extra credit!

And you get extra credit for the RPM (rat per minute) analogy. Good thinking!

Then how is this incorrect:

"Unless this is a trick question I'd say 100 cats. You have a 1:1 ratio of cats to rats in the first part that results in a cat being able to eat 1 rat per minute. To me this sounds like calculating man hours on a project. "

I think you missed my other answer on this. You changed things. The question was, how many cats? Your answer was 100. The correct answer is 3 and the ratio you're talking about is 3:1.

Or five rats in five minutes.

Or 20 rats in 20 minutes.

Or 100 rats in 100 minutes.

Any way you look at it, there are three cats eating rats. Not 100.

To use your theory, 100 cats eating rats at the rate of one rat per minute for 100 minutes, there'd be 10,000 rats eaten!

OK, back to cats and trucks... ... ... . I like the (1) pepper idea and (2) shotgun. (1) PC (2) FUN

New sig... ... . I don't have a cat on my truck and I don't want one!

Acetylene cayenne works the best for that, but see my earlier post. Those cats are like egrets--you have to get to them before they nest!

Well... I dont think a cat could eat more than 4 or 5 rats at a sitting. Unless they were really small ones and then only... maybe 10 at most. Even if they were mice..... 33. 333 mice per cat is pushing it. Now, you didnt specify what qualifies as a "cat". 3 Bengal tigers might could eat 100 rats, but as we were talking about cats crawling on trucks, I didnt consider "big" cats into the equation.

Maybe I should have used the word "theoretical. " However, I did say that IF (that's theoretical, isn't it?) three cats could eat three rats in three minutes, etc. , etc.
