Keeping machined parts from rusting.

Kroil is a good preservative, rust inhibitor and rust removal solution. It is oil based. Sili Kroil has silicon in it, might not be a good idea on engine internals. I have a engine block with that rubbed all over the machine parts in plastic bags in the garage.

Amsoil makes a product called metal protector that would work well.

However, if you need something that is commonly available, try spray white lube. Basically just white lithium grease in a spray can. Buy it at parts stores, Home Depot, Ace, most anywhere.
