Kelderman owners - speak up!

Calling all Kelderman air-ride suspension (4x4 trucks with front 'bags please... ) owners!!



Here's what I want to know:



Measure your truck's clearance at normal ride height, then measure the clearance once you loose all the air out of the bags.



I'm wondering how much the truck would actually drop if it were sitting on the bump-stops (or close to it... )... . and am unsure if it is merely a measurement between the bump stop and where the bump-stop hits to determine how much it would drop...

I would think you would just measure bumpstop to frame. It certainly couldn't go any further. Then again, as long as the shocks allow it to go. I still have my system in the shed and just have not been still long enough to install it. I'm out of work now so time is coming.

Thanks for your input. Without my truck here... it's sorta hard to do any measuring... so I figured someone else could spend 15 seconds with a tape measure and post the results.

OK... ... ... . Form the rubber stop to the pad on the axle on my truck is 5". If that if that is the measurement you wanted. And it took me 47 secs and 2 sneezes.

Now I need to figure out how low the Kelderman will let me go... . I may be able to fit my truck (or a newer truck... . *hint, hint!*) into the garage at the apartment. Oo.

The Kelderman 4 link will let it "bump" out. I believe the hitch replacement system will too. Now that I think about it, it would have to. The rear links are attached to the a 10 inch air bad, inflated of course. Let the air out and down it comes.

Thanks for the info on the rear system, but I'm more concerned with the front suspension and how low I can get the truck with a front install only.

I would think that the bumpstops would prevent the axle from hitting the oil pan... . if they don't... then I'd modify 'em.



As for the possibility of me ever being satisfied... . I don't think that will ever happen. Nothing is ever 'done' or 'perfect'. That's the way I have always been... .

Other than the lower overhead clearance in the underground parking... this apartment rocks for what I pay for it.

Not sure if it helps, but I posed a somewhat similar question to jeff at kelderman. I am going to eventually get a 4" lift using their air bags and mounts. He said with all the air out of them it would be like a 2" lift, and if I topped out the shocks a 6".



I should find out for sure this spring

Hey guys I have the air bags (on the front only)on a 2003 four wheel drive 2500 and when i installed them I took all the stock measurments and filled the air bags till it went back up to the original heighth. then I tried to lower it by draining air. The problem I encountered was the shocks would bottom out before the truck got much lower. I think that I have everything set correctly as the ride is great and the truck doesn't bottom out with the air up. Just an observation but you may have to unbolt your lower shock attachment to get in the garage. :{ :--) #@$%!

Sounds like the shocks you have are too long for your application.

I just got off the phone with Doug from Kelderman.



He told me that their system would lower a Dodge 2. 5" ( I think he thought I had a 2WD truck... ).



He then immediately asked what the distance between the bump stop and the axle pad was on my truck. I told him it was 5"... . he then said that their system would allow the truck to sit on the bumpstops.



I specifically asked if the shocks included with their kit would allow that much travel and he said they would.



If this is true, it looks like Kelderman is getting some of my business in the future.

The shocks may be too long or he may need to move the top shock mount from the lower to the upper mount. See the Kelderman photo album in my sig for details, my shocks are mounted in the upper position (but I've never tried deflating the bags with a load on it).
