I've been contemplating the purchase of the kelderman rear air ride suspension. It looks like a great product, but I'd like some first-hand experiences as far as ride quality is concerned. I do like the fact that it can self-level the rear end, but I'm primarily interested in improved comfort with less wear and tear on the vehicle when unloaded. Any input is appreciated.

Regards,
Michael

I dredged this one up out of the archives - Michael did not get any responses when he posted the original thread back in '99, I thought I would bring it back to the top & see what happens.

Does anyone have any experience with the Kelderman set up? I'm not really serious at this stage, personally I don't mind the firm ride, but my wife has asked on several occasions if I can't do something to make it a little less harsh.

We have a 1/2 mile gravel driveway, and unless you go pretty slow, it will jar your kidneys, especially when unloaded. Generally speaking, the paved roads in our neck of the woods are pretty good, even the wife does not complain about the ride once she hits the pavement, she just does not have the patience to hold the speed down on the driveway. We keep the drive in pretty good shape, you can cruise along at 30mph or so in a car without any jarring to speak of, but unless you keep around 10 mph in the truck, it will beat you up... this drives the wife crazy as she's always in a hurry!

I blundered onto the Kelderman website today, and did a search on the TDR, but did not find many first-hand reports on how the Kelderman set up performed. Does it appreciably help the ride on unpaved/rough roads?

kelderman rear suspension

Hi I have had the Kelderman rear suspension in my 92 club cab for 5yrs , 100k miles love it , it takes the harshness out of the ride. The first Gen. trucks road hard not like the newer versions which are soft by comparison. I pulled a 30 ft trailer with it, no trick bars necessary, add air to level it an go. I did not have the automatic air pump. . good product really satisfied.
