Getting ready to get new tires and I've been looking around and found out that I can get a farm discount for Kelley Springfield. Anyone have any experience with these?

Kelly Tires

Which Kellys were you looking to get?? I've got the Safari MSRs on mine, size 285/75R16. I've put about 30K on them and have liked them so far. They aren't loud going down the road and they have real good grip in the mud and clean out pretty quick. I know some other people in my area have used these tires on their trucks and are pleased with them as well.

The MSR's look like a good tire, but how they wear is a concern of mine. The AWR's I've had wear like #^%* and offer little traction on any surface.

I have the AWR's and its the only tire I will buy. They give me the best mileage. The traction in rain is great. I highly recommend them. Origional size 245-75-16 load E Jeff

Wow Jeff, I can't believe you have had such great luck with the AWR's. I had a set of the old sytle AWR's and my father had a set as well. Neither lasted more than 40k and that was on a 1500 Chevy gassers.

On our work trucks we have had 3 sets of AWR's (had all new tires put on all three trucks at the same time). We do alot of driving on dirt, taller grass, mud (wet dirt), and snow. The tires were great for the first 5000 miles, but after that not one set was worth a $%^&. They were junk in the mud, which was to be expected because of their tight lug pattern, but they were even junk in the snow. I don't just mean snow in the field. All snow, light, heavy, on the road, or in the field. These things don't even have traction on wet grass. Not one set lasted over 30k on the work trucks.

Glad to hear you experience was better than ours.

Well after further review, I checked on the price of Kelley and was 130. 00 and Michlens are 131. 00. I think I will go with Michlens. Thanks for the input.

Cooker, I'm on my third set. I get about 45000 miles out of a set. Thats the best of all the tire I've tried. I really like them. I only pay 98. 00 a piece for them. When I get a new truck I may try something different. We have the AWR on all our vehicles. Jeff

My truck came with michlems AT and at 16000 miles they are down to 1/2 of the tread. I have always ran Kelly tires as replacements on previos trucks with average tread life of 50-60K miles. I will replace my Michlems with Kellys. I know of a set of michlems that only lasted 22000 miles.

My friend, no really,;) had them on his Wrangler and they were great on traction, and worn nice. He only had one little problem with them. He was over at his girlfriends apartment and parked in someone's stall by mistake. The sidewalls will not stop a knife. Go figure.

Sidewalls may not stop knives but!

I'd wager a years salary, I have a surefire way to stop the knifewielding SOB from ever slashing another set of tires! ;)

Given the opportunity I'd be happy to prove it as well.

Come to think of it, I think I have a 200+ page Army Field Manual circa 1932 chocked full of good ideas to prevent further tire slashing, and another not quite as thick circa 1966 which explains the intrensic value of Guerrilla and Non-conventional Warfare Tactics. :D

A little sugar, twine, concentrated battery acid, and 1 unused condom make an excellent timer. Oops sorry didn't mean to get off topic. :)

Wild Country

My local dealer sells Wild Country tires He said that they were made by KS. I've used them on other trucks and gotten50-70K miles out of agressive tread mud tires. Next set I buy will probably be WCs.

For what its worth
