How do I disable the ignition key buzzer???

The "you forgot to turn off your headlights, stupid" and "don't forget your key it's still in the ignition" are fine but after 8 years I'm really weary of the "fasten your seatbelt" buzzer that sounds off every time I turn the ignition on before I fasten the seatbelt.

So what do I have to do to eliminate this annoyance without imterfering with the headlight warning buzzer??? Note sig - it's a '96.

TIA

I'm not sure if disconnecting two wires that are separate on your key switch does it because I eliminated all the chimes on mine the day after I brought it home by removing the actual chime from the module under the dash.

Removing the two wires at the ignition will stop the chime if the door is open though.

I would love to have your buzzer if you dont want it anymore!!!! I have my doors/lights disabled, but would re-enable them if I could get the ORIGINAL sounding Buzzer! I miss those days. . my 91 D250 had them, and I loved them all the way till I had to get rid of her!

Tom . . a bell is going off in my head..... something you need to check out before you do any thing to the seat belt wires. . on Nowel's rig at the drags he was DOA do to seat belt lockup...

when he did a custon electrical pannel for all the switches he removed the center console and the wires were disconnected from where it sat, one of them was a seal belt wire . . well his belts were frozen in a locked position and he was not able to get the belt to move in or out... amd almost didn't run that night as he couldn't use them

on mine the buzzer is disconnected all together

Tom's '96 doesn't have electric belts and if it's like my '95s there are no wires to the belts either. The chime and seat belt light work off a timer set of by inserting the key.

12 valve electronic simplicity.
