Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) key feel out the vp44, which way does the it go

There is a line at one end of the key, so does it go towards the threads or the pump?

TFlesner, the mark or arrow on the key goes TOWARD the pump housing. This info and other instructions can be found at this website,Blue Chip Diesel Performance Specialists. I bought my pump from them and put it in using their instructions without a hitch about 8 months ago. A CLASS outfit. Hope this helps.
