I want to be able to TURN OFF the "Key-In Ignition Switch CHIME" on certain occasions. Would prefer to put a manual switch in rather than pemanantly disable it.

My Vehicle is: 1998, 4x4, Quad Cab, 12valve Cummins, 61/2 ft. bed. Manual 5 speed Transmission.

Any suggestions?

Remove the plastic cover from your steering wheel, I think you need a long torx head driver. On your key switch you will see two wire connecters one with a bunch of wires and another with just two. Cut one of the two wires and put in your switch, it doesn't matter which wire. You might find room to put a small switch in the plastic cover. If you just want to disable the chime disconnect the the two wires. If you have a lighted key halo you will lose it also.

Thanks much "illflem". You got me on track and I got the job done without my usual amount of fumbling. Seems like my "small" connector had 4 wires but was able to determine that the "light blue" one was the one I needed to put the switch on. Now I can listen to the radio while I am working on the truck or stop to put my binocs on a deer without the "ding-ding-ding"!
