Keyless Entry Fob & Module

For all you guys who work on or for Dodge what can you tell me about the module? Are they different between say my 03 Ram and my 03 Jeep? Here's what I want to do. My Jeep Liberty has the extra button for the glass hatch to pop open. I would like to have this style of fob programmed for my Ram and use the hatch button to start my Espar diesel fired engine preheater. Is this something that might be possible? My reason for doing it this way is that I would only have 1 fob. If I use the Espar remote, or modify a car starter remote, then I have a second fob attached to my overloaded key chain.

The factory style module plugs into the back of the instrument cluster and there's no other wiring to it (I inst. mine). So I'm thinking that if you have a module that has any other functions, there is no extra wire coming from it to connect to your Espar. It may not even plug in to your Ram - you'd need to compare them side by side.

If you carry a cell phone, Espar now has a remote that can be activated that way. I think it even provides feedback that the unit is running. Probably an expensive option, though.

It is expensive and is way overkill ( not that that ever stopped any of us before :-laf )
