Keyless Entry / Remote Start

Why somebody would buy a $30K truck and not get the keyless entry is beyond me. I didn't think there was such as thing as key only entry in the 21st century.



So when I bought it a couple months ago, dealer said there wasn't a keyless entry box installed, I thought someone just lost the remote. I guess I need to check that out myself, why would I believe a dealer?



Anyway, when I got it home, I swore that was going to be the first thing I took care, not the case. I WAS thinking about remote start, until I realized these diesels won't warm up at idle w/o an exh brake. So I'm thinking about just a basic keyless entry system with maybe a horn alarm so I can get a discount on insurance.



I'd like to hear some suggestions from you guys, about maybe something I be missing out on. Other little bells and whistles I could install related to a remote.

check these guys out. i put one of their remote start, keyless entry units in my sons 90 grand marquis. works really well. also has second channel i interfaced to the remote trunk release.



the first unit i received was DOA, but they came through quickly with a replacement unit and everything was OK. it will be in 1 year this christmas. no problems at all. they are very good about suppling wiring schematic info.

This is a Viper alarm, it has remote start, keyless entry, 5 Tone siren, and the best feature of all a Turbo Timer!!! The Timer can be pre programed for 1 3 5 or 10 min so you can walk away with the alarm set while your turbo cools down

If you have an exh. brake, most remote starts have other features that can activate the e-brake when it starts the engine.

I don't have nor do I need an exhaust brake, so the remote start would be somewhat useless. I was looking for Other features.



I didn't think about a turbo timer. In stock form, it never takes more than 30 seconds to cool down, but when I'm running 450hp that might be a nice feature.



Any other gagets that are helpful?

The viper made by dei works great! Full alarm, keyless entry, remote start, and an aux channel to turn on other acc. like relay for side mirror defrost, or anything electrical you want to activate or deactivate.



Will a high idle kit work like this?
