2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission keyless entry

have an 01 slt did some these happen to come with keyless entry and if so is there a code somewhere in glovebox or such that i can check.

They sure did come with keyless entry. Depending upon what packages were ordered from the factory when new it could have gone either way-optional or standard equipment. However, I'm not sure how to tell by looking at codes. In the vin or glovebox sticker. I wonder if all the trucks aren't set up for it and when the buyer orders it, they just "activate" it or or otherwise "turn it on" somehow. In other words, if you don't have it and want it, maybe it's there and all you need to do is find a dealer who can turn it on.

My 98. 5 was ordered with keyless entry. They are deactivated during shipping from factory and activated by the dealer on delivery.

Not all are shipped with keyless entry. Have a dealer pull the build sheet for your truck by taking the vin to the service department and asking them to get it. It may take a day or two. If it didn't come with keyless entry, you can buy the kit and harness and install it yourself... I did it and it's pretty simple(takes about 2. 5 hrs)... almost plug and play.

ok back to this topic just bought a 01 dodge truck for parts and it has keeless entry is ther anyway to take it off it and put it over on my 01 and were is it located at on the truck? thanks guys.

Does anyone have the installation instructions for the OEM keyless entry kits?? I bought one from the dealership a few years ago and the only instructions that came in the box, were how to program the control module... I tried taking it to a few dealerships in the past and they look at me like an idiot when I asked them to install it; they didn't know of any OEM kit for it, even after I showed them the box that it came in. Is the wiring harness seprate from the kit? There are wires in the kit that I got, but none of them are in the harness form...
