Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) keyless remote quit working

so my keyless just stopped yesterday. i replaced the batteris and still nothing. is there a fuse that could be blow somewhere?

I would guess it is the key fob, my key has the built in keyless entry buttons and was spotty all the time, they ended up replacing it under warranty and it is good now, it may be something on the truck but more likely a broken solder joint or something in the keyless clicker. You could pry it open and check for continuity on the battery contacts or see if anything is loose, I fixed my friends keyless on his Tacoma by soldering the contacts for the battery on the circuit board.

everything looks good inside the remote so i dont think its in there

The FOB for my 99 worked, then stopped, then worked, then stopped, pretty randomly. Didn't matter what batteries I had in it. After the last time I thought it was dead for good then it started working again, I went on eBay, searched on the FCC number from the back of my FOB and picked up 2 extras for 20 bucks. When they arrived I programmed them, using my original and then stored the original in a safe place so I can use it to program others if I need them in the future.

You would be wise to do the same.
