I've got a 7, 5, and 1. 5 y. o. in the back of my QC all the time. The baby was out of a rear-facing seat before she ever got in, so I don't have anything to say about that, but it works fine now.

The truck is actually nicer with kids than our over-priced Honda MV in a lot of ways. With the baby seat in the rear, middle, you can carry the baby in with you as you get in and get her strapped in from the driver's seat.

Only big bummer is you'll find yourself screaming "Stop kicking the seat!!" all the time.

This is a long post but the whole story needs telling and even gets VERY opinionated.

We went through the same dilemma when our children were smaller. I had a Chevy S-10 and wife drove a Pontiac Sunbird. Both were fine for 1 child in car seat. Wife did have to ride in the back on the S-10, but that isn't always bad...

Child #2 and we were forced to use only the Sunbird for full family jaunts. Not bad when the kids are small. Be honest, who else in their right mind wants to ride in a vehicle with an infant & a toddler?

Kids got older so replaced the Sunbird with a Caravan and life is still happy. The kids were both forward facing and in 5 point harness seats at the swap over. Buy smart as the 5 point seats convert to booster seats.

ALWAYS KEEP YOUR CHILDREN IN APPROVED RESTRAINTS. ANYTHING LESS IS NEGLIGENT PARENTING. (PERIOD)

If you have to stop the vehicle quickly, what do you think will stop your unrestrained child? YOUR ELBOW? NOT! THINK WINDSHIELD OR ASPHALT!

Replaced the S-10 x-cab with my 97 x-cab (a year after the van).

It is great for family trips and we survived a winter move from Seattle to Minnesota. The booster seats work very good, but I would not put an infant seat back there without some tie down such as a tether or the rachet device that Steve posted. .

The kids needed their own useable cup holders so I purchased a truck console and put it in the back seat.

The kids are getting older so it is time to look for more room in the pickup.

Here is my vision for a family Ram. C-D sure doesn't have a clue on what the America market wants.

NO "sorry for the preaching", weasel out by me. I get really upset with people that want to have children, but no responsibility in raising them. Guard them with your own life. They are meant to be your replacements?

I think you misread what Bill meant John. I read it as a humorous exchange. Kid in the back seat kicking the back of the drivers seat (mine does it all the time when she's in her car seat) and the dad getting ****** and yelling "If I have to stop this truck I'm gonna . . . . . "

Thanks Steve;

I didn't misread the post. I just misused a statement.

Sorry Bill, that wasn't directed to you in anyway. I only meant to emphasize if you have to panic the truck without restrained children thay will probably be in the windshield.

No offense taken. BTW, I can relate to the missile business. When I was 4 or 5, I was riding in the back seat of my mom's '56 Ford 2 door sedan. Remember seat backs that DIDN'T latch? She had to slam on the brakes to avoid some idiot and my head got quickly up close & personal with the STEEL (non-padded) dash. Some folks will tell you that this incident explains a lot of things. :D
