Wondering if there've been anyone out there that has purchased a Kilby OBA system for the newer 03 and up Dodges that have installed them yet. How was installation of the compressor, plumbing etc and if you'd do anything different the second time around or have any pointers to make the job easier. How did you route the wires in/around the pulley's for clearance? Pictures?

Can't say I have installed mine yet..... but I will in a few days on a 06. Anybody have some info that I may find usefull?

I installed the kit on my 2005 truck. Pretty straight forward install. Sorry I don't have any pictures.



I had to get online to get a diagram on how my belt is supposed to be routed. Normally you have a diagram posted under the hood somewhere, but I did not.



I bought the kit from kilby but the compressor and everything else from junkyards. My compressor had a different top which did not allow the hood to close all the way. I had to go back to the junk yard to look around for a lower profile compressor top.



I got a 5 gallon air tank (junkyard) and mounted it on the passenger side frame rail just behind the rear door. I mounted my autometer white face gauge inside the cab, as well as my on off switch. There are very few wires to deal with with the entire project. I ran separate airlines out of each of the bumpers, and one for my air horns.



Ensure you set your solonoid to cut off at the pressure you want prior to running the system.



The only problem you may run into is the type of airline you use coming off your compressor. The heat from the engine and compressor may cause premature failure of the hose. I would suggest a stainless braided line for that portion.



Eventually ARB will come out with lockers for our trucks and you will be able to plumb them off of your compressor as well.

what are y'all using the onboard air for? I run onboard air on my jeep, but can't see needing it on the truck. Just curious is all, I'm sure there are about 10 reasons I'm not thinking of... .....

well there a number of reasons for me. ... . Curently a excavation contractor. I was doing some work down in New Orleans so nails in tires was almost a daily item, and air is almost imposiable to find... .



Tires, tires on the trailer, tires on equipment, tires on the truck, coworkers truck/car



Sometimes you need to take off such tire, impact gun is nice on a 8 lug trailer or turck. zip zip . . before you know it your done.



I have used it to put up a fence, with an air nailer. Not pratical for every day use to build fences but if you need to do a small job, you have the air with you, saves a ton of bed space and is a little harder to steal.



But I use mine every day for a PBX Exhaust brake. Saved about 300 on the brake and have a better air system.

Air bags, air horns, air tools, air for tires, air for toys/floats, air mattresses, train horns, because you can, because it's cool, and a tenth reason I'm missing at the moment.

I sure wish I could have one... .
 
airbrakes... . ??? If your refering to my post actuallly I have air actuated Exhause brake, not actuall air brakes like a semi... . but I guess I do have air brakes now that I think of it :--)





If you have air you will find uses for it ... . trust me.
