Kill switch wiring???

I must be going blind. I've dug up the posts from people that have installed kill switches off the clutch jumper (auto-trans) and I can't find this jumper on either side of the firewall. Any clues on where I need to focus attention on or wire color (for an 02)? Or is this jumper somewhere in the wiring harness on left side of clutch area?

The jumper is on the inside of the truck, next to the clutch or brake pedal, towards the left side. It is a one wire connector that is attached to the vertical support with a barbed plastic nip.



After I spliced into mine, I rerouted the wire so that is someone who is planning on stealing the truck is familiar with the wiring of these things knows about this trick, they will hae to find the wire first. Heck, I actually don't remember where I ran it. And if they do find the switch, they will also have to find the key that is wired in series, and figure out which of the 9 posts of the key switch is the right one. And if they touch th e wrong two wires together, it shorts out two select fuses.

I was drinking many beers when I was soldering wires. I kind of got a little carried away. I figured that most aftermarket security systems are little more than noise makers, so I got a case of Bass and started to wire things.

The ONLY single wire I can find NOT associated with a multi-wire plug/harness is hidden behind the wiring harness on left just right of parking brake stuff. It's the only one that has two wires coming from firewall into a plastic plug with a single wire loop on bottom side of plug. It's hidden in the back (firewall side) and is yellow with a red stripe. Is that the one?

that sounds like the one. unplug it to verify it is the one. there should be a red clip on the plug that you have to pull up before you can disconnect the plug. The one in my 01 and 02 were different colors, and both different from what other posts have indicated.

with it unplugged, does the motor turn over and not start or it is a true "kill" switch?

(to late to try this tonight. I'll mess with it tomorrow morning. )

Engine won't crank with the jumper removed. It will be the same as trying to start a manual trans truck without pushing in the clutch.

Perfect! That's exactly what I'm after for a hidden switch. Any thoughts on amp draw thru that jumper? Weatherproof switches recommended?

Amp draw is minimal, it just triggers a relay. The smallest switch you can find will work. On your year truck I believe it is a positive flow though the jumper, you don't want the switch shorting out to ground. Rather than a switch some folks wire it so the power flows though the cig lighter, lighter pushed in, engine starts.
