kill switch

'03 QC, HO, 6spd

Waiting on the service manual which will probably show me, but in the meantime, what can you tell me about where to hook up a kill switch? I think it's not as easy as on the 12 valve. What about the clutch switch circuit? I definitely don't want to set up any fault codes.

Depending on exactly what you are trying to do, you might be able to use the automatic shutdown relay (provided we have those with the 24v). The relay (controlled by the PCM) provides power for the injectors and the ignition. The PCM normally supplies a ground to this relay for normal operation, but if the key is on and the engine isn't running or a crankshaft position sensor is out of range it will remove the ground. I'm thinking that you can probably just cut the ground wire to the relay and put your kill switch in series. If you need more info, just let me know.

Thanks for the reply. I really do need more help because I don't have any idea how to accomplish what you are talking about. Maybe when the service manual shows up it'll help, but for now I'm surely lost. I feel naked without some way to make the engine inoperative.

I understand Right after I got the '03 that I currently have I drive I came across the manual in electronic form on EBay. Needless to say I had to get it and I love having the information available, which is where my previous post came from. Let me know if you need anything after you get your manual and I'll try to help.

I'm wondering if we have the fuel shut off relays that some other 4WD's do - the ones that shut off the fuel in the event of an accident (and then have to be reset). Anybody know?

I put my cut out switch on the starter relay. It would be VERY hard to push start my truck with an auto trans. and I can cut it off right after I start it up, so I wont forget to cut it off parking it around St. Louis Mo.
