Killed my dowel pin today. I cannot understand why with such a simple fix why Cummins would not want to pay royalties for the fix, buy some jigs and fix all these engines to simply show the world what up and up swell guys they are and prevent any tarnish on their swell reputation regardless of what DC wants to do about it. If nothing else you would think that legal would get involved before some poor guys motor swarms on the side of a mountain with his big fiver because the pin just decided to bail out of its hole and shuck some gears and causes an eight car pile up. I guess it is a numbers game where they feel the clock is ticking and each minute goes by another truck is scrapped, another guy fixes his own, another truck is replaced with a new one yadda yadda and they'll just pay off the crash guys widows and come out 17 cents ahead overall six years down the road and their reputaion is still good enough to stand it. In the mean time everyone is afraid of the pin so they buy a maxipad when the time comes. at least Ford and GM have all these secret little warranties that get things fixed. I wonder how a letter about the killer pin would affect stockholders if they (C & DC) were each to receive one?
