Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Killer Dowel Pin on 24v?

I'm sure this has been covered, but I searched and nothing came up.



The killer dowel pin, is this an issue on 24v trucks?? Or just a 12v thing?

yes on some early 98's and 99's--may have been some odd ones that made it into the '00 I thought I saw somewhere--I did mine, just to be safe--chris

Tabbed the KDP yesterday at the Idaho Bomb Meet. The pin was out about 1/16", so it was a good thing we did it.

How did you tab it; did you drill and tab from outside the gear casing or did you remove the casing?

We removed the timing cover and tapped the pin back in and put a metal tab over the pin, loctited the bolt.
