American Wedding...

Happy Birthday Wiz !!

Anyone that can give their real world Kimber testament to quality could you share?

I after Saturday am in love with A Stainless Ultra Carry II that is sitting at a shop yelling at me and I want her bad. My love affair for the G36 is still strong however... ...

I have a Kimber Custom (blued) that I use for shooting USPSA events. In the 3000 rounds that I have run through it, the only problems that I have ever had were caused by the Chip McCormick mags. The pistol is accurate enough that head shots on the IPSC targets are not a problem.

A big bonus is that you can customize them so easily. Glock is catching up in the "bombing" department, so either one would be a good choice.

I have the exact gun you speak of in . 40 caliber. Love the gun and have never had a single problem with it. I have put about 2500 rounds through it to this point. I used it as my sidearm when I was working on a ranch and it got abused during this time. Rain, snow, mud... . it has seen it all and never given me a problem. I do clean it alot though, so that probably helps. All in all, I say you can't go wrong with this purchase. And of all the stock pistols I have shot, the Kimber has the nicest trigger pull.

My advice, Buy it. You can never have too many guns.

I have no personal experience with Kimbers but I'd like to share a funny little story... .

I'm in the police academy, most folks are carrying Sigs, Glocks, H&K. Two guys have Kimber . 45s - I don't know what models. First day of firearms is a lecture - you, these are parts, this is how you take it apart, etc, etc. Well, everybody got the hang of field stripping their weapons very quickly - except the Kimber guys. Poor guys were both struggling with getting them back together in a hurry. In fact, one of the guys shot the recoil spring into the ceiling - luckily it didn't stick:D

I dont see a problem with field stripping any 1911 style pistol. Maybe they needed some practice.

I have a stainelss custom target in 38 super. Love it!!

I changed out the factory recoil spring, and I shoot 9x23's in it.

My BOMBED Kimber. Oo.

Recently my wife has been bugging me for the rimfire Kimber. I didnt like the feel of an all aluminum pistol.

We looked at some more, and turns out she likes the CDP.

I will be getting her that one.

The only thing that sucks is, I talked her out of a $550 pistol into a $1000 pistol.

Eric:D

PS Go the extra $$$ and get Wilson mags.

My shooting buddy (member here too) has a Kimber that shoots like a dream. It is a series 2 Custom Target in 45 acp. You can spend a TON of money and not outshoot that gun it is so good. DEAD reliable too, exactly ONE jam in well over 2000 rounds and it could probably be attributed to the factory magazine.

Spend the money and get the Wilson mags like the patriot said, they are the best and the only ones that you will be very very unlikely to have trouble with over the coming years. The Shooting Star mags are probably second best... ...

TMTT, I have the Stainless Ultra Carry in . 45ACP. Love it and won't leave home without it. I bought it as my carry gun, to replace a full size 1911 Colt A-1. It shoots as accurate as the Gold Cup . 45 my dad has, and fits in a jeans pocket, just about. You can't go wrong with that one. Good luck with your decision.

I just cleaned my Kimber Custom Compact in preparation for Missouri's new concealed carry bill that takes effect October 11th ;). So many guns, so few holsters... ... ... ... . Larry

I am gonna laugh my butt off if you dont get your premit due too many bombings. lol You've bought bombs, made bombs, and sold bombs. Yep, you need a gun in your hands. Oo.

I've got two Kimbers, one is a Pro Carry, massaged by Bill Wilson, and with an ambidextrous safety (I'm left-handed).

The other is a full-size Kimber classic, with a Jim Clark Custom conversion kit to . 460 Rowland (duplicates the velocity of . 44 magnum) :D 8 shots of bear-stopper, you should see what it does to 4x4 posts and such, can ya say disintegrate , boys and girls? :D

Jeffyboy, 1911's ain't all the same, they're like automatic trannies. Only as good as the guys that build 'em . :D (just raggin' on ya, Wayne, I'll have to let ya try shooting mine when we get a shoot organized)(your sis growin' any pumpkins this year? :D )

Hope ya get one(or two!) TMTT, you'll love 'em !

LSmith is absolutely right about the Wilson magazines. In 7 different . 45's I've owned over the years, the Wilsons are the only ones that have never failed me or caused a jam. They're pricey, but worth it. Your butt is worth more than a cheapo magazine, right?

I love The High Road, 1911`s, and the TDR.

The Kimber is a good gun. I went Springfield, I don`t care for the series II safety on the Kimber. If it breaks the gun won`t work.

Tom, Ive shot your 460. On that day way, way, way back in 2000 in the Dan Boone forest. If you ever come this way, I guess I will need to find a junk ford 460 block to see if your 460 is better than a ford boat anchor of the same size. No pumpkins here. I perfer concrete lawn statues. Little more fun to shoot at them.
