WHY ?

I don't feel anything for the FORD guys... ... ..... sooner or later they will figure it out. Being brand loyal is one thing ... ..... knowing its no good and you STILL buy it... ... ... whose fault is that ?

If Dodge/Cummins had problems like ford does, would you continue to buy them? Not me, I have better things to do than pay for a truck that is always at the dealership.

They say not to worry about 3 or 4% diesel in their oil? I am mad cause my power steering pump is leaking oil all over my diff. I don't know if I could not worry if I had diesel leaking INTO my oil!

About buying the same truck over again, but with the Cummins ISBe.

One guy who is happy (too happy?) with his 6. 0-no says, "nope... Given the fact that I have had zero problems in over 13,000 miles... "

Woopty freakin' do, 13,000 miles! I guess Cummins guys are used to saying no problems in 50k or 100k but those 6. 0 guys are happy if they have no problems in 10k...

I want to see what happens to the average 6. 0 when it reaches 100k. I would hide in a steel bunker.

From ALL reports, no 6. 0 will make 100k without replacement or overhaul. Sad. These guys paid good money for a poorly designed, and worsely supported product. I drove FoMoCo products for a long time, these things are an embrassment to a formerly good company. Don. :(

I have no sympathy for people who do not research a $52,000 cdn. purchase.

I lurked at this site for a month and I learned something about the 3rd gen every bloody time!. I read a post at the ford site and I shake my head One post over there this guy test drove 3 trucks. The first two were really crappy(pinging and banging)then this rocket scientist then bought the third one.

If I drove two 2003 dodge diesels and they drove as badly as that poor sucker I would not have laid down my cash on the dodge!

And what is REALLY interesting, is the F**D commercial I've seen running all this week. States "6. 0 liter powerstroke, the longest lasting diesel engine in any pickup truck".

Anyone care to send the truth in advertising police to that ad??

Come on now guys, let's be nice. Those Fords are going to last a long time sitting in the dealer parking lot waiting on parts... .

I would caution all of you in being so quick to separate us from Ford, DC and GM both are very quickly cost reducing themselves to be just as bad! I admit my CTD is not nearly as bad as a PSD, but I am in no way happy with the overall quality of my CTD. Look at what we have lost within the past few years, ie instantaneous MPG, underhood lighting, hood mats etc... . how long before they start cheapening the engines we love so much. How many of us have had problems with our 48re's and rear end diffs... rattles, wind noises etc? These I would think are all direct results of trying to get cost our of the end product to improve DC's margin.

I know all this is not as bad as a PSD blowing up at 10k miles but it seems like DC is taking us there quickly!

Hello guys, first of all any lube oil contmination is BAD. I used to work in the shop for a short line RR and we used run samples on the lube oil all the time. and keep in mind rroudy 98 its a truck and not a lexus, due to its boxy shape trucks will have wind noise, rattles ect. I agree all brands have thier own issues. But at least dodge puts a REAL diesel under the hood and I dont think you will ever see the cummins cheapened, they lead the field in diesel engines, the dodge truck around it might fall apart but the cummins keeps a clattering. Cheers Mike

"Longest lasting Diesel" where and how did they think they can make such a claim. "Well I guess if you tell a lie often enough - they will believe it... "certainly applies here... ...

I'd bet there's some fine print that conveniently explains it away.

Cummins builds Motor's for Dodge, unlike International, and Isuzu that take Ford, or GM specs and build it to that.

I don't think Dodge can tell Cummins to "cheapen" the motor, unless it's something Cummins has allready decided to do.

Worn axles? worn trannies? We have that,, GM and Ford have it just as bad, but a whining rear-end is water under a bridge when the motor itself is not reliable.
