I was considering purchasing a set of Kleen Wheels dust shields from Geno's Garage for my '98 2500. I have Weld polished Typhoon wheels on my truck. I got a little lazy cleaning them, and had a tough time getting the brake dust off. It seemed to be baked to the aluminum. I finally got them clean using Eagle One aluminum wash and finish grade ultra fine steel wool. My wheels now look brighter and shinier than new. Has anybody installed a set of Kleen Wheels on their truck? Do they work as advertised? I've heard they cause excessive brake heat. Is this true? They claim they increase brake venting. I don't see how that is true. Any feedback or comments good or bad would be appreciated. -Thanks Glen

Glen, I purchased a set of Kleen Wheels from Geno's Garage, installing them when I added my M/T Alcoa Challengers. The Kleen Wheels fit and work very well. I would definitely add these if you are going to run "bare" wheels (uncoated), such as the M/Ts or the Welds as the corrosive nature of brake dust will destroy the finish if neglected long enough.

I ran the dust shields from Genos for over a year with excellent results, never a speck of brake dust. This was with stock wheels, and I couldn't tell any difference in brake temp. They have louvres around the outside and a direction in which they must turn to draw the air through. Mine are laying in the garage now in, the 1st thing removed in preparation of the new truck and already you can see dust on the wheels.

I'm just waiting for them to make em for the y2k's new wheels. The current ones wont fit the y2ks SLT pkg wheels. Getting tired of the "red" dust on the wheels after 2 days of driving. Brakes are getting squeeky (warm weather and windows down), might have to see a dealer about this soon.
