Knocking Noise

My friend has an 06 5. 9. When it is idling it knocks. I never heard a 3rd generation 5. 9 that idled that loud. Is this a problem?

What kind of knock? More of a clicking or ticking, or more of a hard knock. There are always threads going about ticking and clicking and knocking 3rd gens. Most would probably say your knock is normal, and some will say check your injectors. Often bad injectors will have noticeable clicks. You can take a stethoscope to each cylinder and listen for differences to try and detect where the noise is coming from. If there is no apparent difference, then I would say don't worry about it, it's just another ticking 3rd gen.

It is more of a hard knock. I dont think it is injectors.

Is your friends 06 completley stock, or is it modified? Bombed? Boxed? All the above?
