I want a Rickard rear bumper, like the one on Andy P. 's truck. Unfortunately, they're no longer available. #ad
Can someone out there build an exact duplicate? Aluminum or steel would work. I'm willing to travel if someone can duplicate it. Andy, sounds like I'd have to get in line for yours. Steve W.

Tim; Thanks much for posting the picture of Andy's bumper. Adam; Do you think you could really build a duplicate of this, outside spare and all? Man, I've been wanting one of these for a while. Steve W.

I'd like one also with the ability to remove the spare tire & tool box assembly and with a Warn HS 9500 winch-I'd need it powder coated or painted red--I could do the color match out here--what do you say Adam??? ---chris

That sure would rid my bed of that 36" tire that takes up most the space. and maybe a way to attach the high lift jack like some rigs have the front bumper.

To make one an exact duplicate might be a little hard without seeing one in person to take measurenents and to get a 3d view in my head. My thought on fabricating one like this would be to use a piece of 4x6 or 4x8 rectangular steel about 3/16 thick. This in my opinion would be stronger and easer to work with, little cheaper. to get the rounded edges on the horzontal sides out of a sheet, you would have to have it bent. the rounded edges on the right and left sides would be no problem. I've looked at the local part store for the lights that are mounted in a rubber groment and i cannot find any. I'll call napa. My bumper on my truck now has a ramsey 8000 winch in it. I made it out of heavy duty truck frame, and i still bent it.

Adam; The bumper on your truck looks pretty good. I definitely plan on pursuing this with someone if it can be fabricated. One thing that scares me is I want to make sure it's done right; the rear tire carrier being solid and working well, that everything looks well done. If you think you can do it, e-mail me a price when you've got an estimate together. Just curious on what any other bumper manufacturers feedback is regarding the bumper. Any pro's/con's on doing this in aluminum vs. steel(besides weight)? Anybody other builders think they could make this bumper? I've starting to believe it might happen. By the way, I hope Paul Rickard is recovering and living the good life. Steve W.

I'm also interested in the bumper. Toss a cost estimate out and see how many bites you get.

You might want to contact Jason at Northwest Custom. He's built a few bumpers and sold them.
I took a few years of welding in junior college, and I've always enjoyed working with metal. I have dreamed of having my own fabricating business for years. However, that requires a few basic things like... a place to live, first of all! I need to buy my own place and build that dream garage, then buy the equipment. Give me a year or so, maybe I might be in business. I have a few ideas of my own, and it's killing me knowing that I can't pursue them right now!
Here's a picture of Jason's bumper:

Andy; I tried the Northwest Custom website to e-mail Jason but it wouldn't go through. I remember posting my first day on the TDR about a Rickard bumper and your responding to it. I appreciate your help and ,if it's possible, I plan on seeing this through. Steve W.

I saw a set of the hansen bumpers this past weekend at Brandon's in Modesto [don't remember who's they were, I think they were Jason's brothers from SJ Ram Runners] ... VERY nice bumbers with compound curves and very well thought out. . made me waver over a set v/s the auction for Andy's. . really nice bumpers !!!

Willyslover--they were Jason's and they are nice with a winch that is behind the license plate---I didn't know they had a web site but have their phone # somewhere in my nice neat paper pile on my desk--Jason gave it to me---chris

Just in case you're wondering, in the picture of my bumper above, I have a TDR logo hitch plug installed, but it caught the glare from the sun when I took the photo. The hitch plug was made by Northwest Custom.
