It is time to put better shocks and springs on my 2008 2500 Mega cab... I had a KORE front leveling kit w the Bilstien 5100's on my 2005 2500 Quad... Big improvement!!! My Question is what is the difference between the big three suspension suppliers and why the big cost difference? Carli (Starter System-1375. 00) Lorenz ( Basic System- 1085. 00 ) and KORE (HP Series-670. 00) Am I missing something? which is the better deal? All have been talked about here in TDR, And the Basic VR front springs, rear mini leaf packs. and 5100 Bilsteins are part of the package... Anyone have some input? Anyone of the three have a comment on why their system is better than the other? I would love to go with Carli because they are close to home if I need them... . I hear Sean at Lorenz is awesome to deal with... and KORE is the "standard" that started it all and the price is right... ANY input would be appreciated... I love you guys by the way, every one of you that chime in make TDR worth it... I will always have a Dodge and I will always be a humble member of TDR... Thanks!!!

I was in the same boat as you 2 years ago. I was debating all the different lifts. I had some other concerns about the lift working well with hanging a 1000 lb Boss plow on the front of my truck. I ended up choosing the Lorenz 5100 kit and could not be happier with the quality of the kit or the ride after installation. I can't speak about the others, but Sean was excellent to work with and very knowledgeble, and when UPS delivered it with the box ripped to shreds and parts missing, he had the replacements to me within 2 days. It has been on 2 years now and has seen nearly 20k miles with the plow on it and another 30k without and no sag. If I had to do it over, I would go with the exact same setup.

Every one I know who ran the smaller swayaway shocks has had noises or outright failures with them. The Lorenze dp leaves in there early versions did not hold their ride height on the trucks I have seen. The later versions are much stiffer and gave up too much comfort. The 3" sway aways work well but I don't think Sean is offering those.

I put a set of Pro Comp MX-6 shocks on my 2005 and chucked them after 5ooo miles... the Bilsteins simply worked better... Has any of the three suspension companies offered discounts for TDR mmbers in the past? I know KORE was discounted through Greg Boardman before he passed...

Carli (Starter System-1375. 00) Lorenz ( Basic System- 1085. 00 )

Lorenz has great support, and is a nice guy to deal with. However, depending on how far you want to push performance in the future, you're a little limited with Lorenz.

As for the pricing between Carli and Lorenz, they're pretty similar once you do a side-to-side comparison.

The Lorenz appears to be cheaper at first, but then it's an additional $200 for the plush IR coil upgrade, and another $100 for the endlink upgrade to make it similar to the Carli kit. Now, you're looking at $1,385 for the Lorenz, which can be direclty compared to the Carli at $1,375.

As for the Kore... well, there's plenty of disgruntled people regarding business practices, and I understand alot of vendors are no longer carrying their products. I think you'd have a hard time actually talking to Kent, whereas Sean at Lorenz, or Mike, Sage, and Jesse at Carli are almost always available and willing to help. I think the Kore kit would by far ride the roughest on the road. And I think Carli's powdercoating and finish is a notch above Lorenz.

Eric, thanks for the info... I am going to Carli this morning... Thanks again to all of you, as I stated in the first post all of you are a great source of info and opinion... ;)

I have parts and dealings with KORE, Don Thuren and Sean Lorenz. Here are my observations on the suspensions we have for our trucks.

First they are all great compared to stock.

KORE is built with hard-core in mind. Of all the systems, theirs will be the stiffest with emphasis on control not comfort. I have KORE of both my truck and I have had to revalve them both (with help from Sean; KORE wasn't gonna think about any advise of revalving). There are a lot better now, but the springs are still very stiff. I may end up changing those out too. Eric is correct, you can't talk to Kent but you can usually talk to Sara Mae and she is always helpful and nice.

Lorenz is not something I would consider for hardcore recreational off-roading, but his stuff is really great for the 95% of use that use our trucks because we need to get from A to B with some rough stuff in between. Emphasis on comfort in the rough. His service proceeds him. He gave me his cell # so he could help me get my KORE Fox shocks valved like I wanted. It could get any better.

Carli has a little bit for everyone and in my mind are now the leader in products, innovation and all around performance. Their service seems to be as good as anyone. From enter level to Baja, they have it. I've never read anything bad about there ride, either on the street or off-road.

Do not forget Don Thuren. His web page won't give you a lot of info, but if you search around the web and email or talk to him, he has a lot of good stuff. He will built and valve things as you request. I have emailed him many times and he is always very helpful and informative. You have to talk to him to see what he can really do for you, though.

I have Lorenz Front springs on my 2002, I would not change for anything and plan to get their rear springs. Would you not rather deal with a company direct? With their name on the product?
Rick

I did not get the opportunity to go by Carli Friday morning, my job is very unpredictable, and duty called... I am still going to go by the shop and talk with them... I saw the Lorenz post about 25 percent off, I think i will have a chat with Sean as well... Good info guys!!!Oo.

You know we have run a banner ad for the last month about the 25% off. Do most guys not see it?

I kinda get the feeling banner ads have become flash and dazzle that most folks don't pay attention to?

Just had the Carli Starter kit installed about 100 miles ago. All i can say is WOW! my lifted 1 ton drives just as good, if not better than than my ol' mans 2wd. They build baja suspension kits and it's a good thing too because driving up and down I80 in Nor Cal, you need it! The quality of the parts was great and it was well worth the price. I had a Pro Comp kit on prior to the Carli and it's night and day. We'll see how it holds up but i'm confident i won't loose any sleep over it.
