Kore install questions

Yes, I used the search, and can't find specifics on the following.



#1 The coils aren't marked, how do I know which side is driver & which is passenger?



#2 Does anyone have pics of the rear mini-leaf pack on the truck and how it goes exactly?



#3 Where do you mount the Fox shocks resevoir? I've seen pics, but what are they attaching it to exactly (front & rear)?



So if I'm correct is this the basic jist of it:



Jack up axle

Support frame on jackstands

Lower axle but still support the weight some

Take off the wheels

Unbolt the shock mounts, steering parts, etc that is specified,

Remove the stock coil

Put in the Kore coil

Bolt in the Fox shocks, mount the resevoir

Bolt in the 2 drop blocks

Put in the bumpstops

Tighten up everything

Jack up the axle

Remove jack stands

Lower axle

Front is done?



Jack up the rear axle

Support frame on jackstands

Lower axle but still support the weight

Unbolt the leaf back u-bolts & top of leaf spring thingies

Remove the stock overload sprint or whatever

Replace with Kore minileaf pack

Put Kore U-bolts and put everything back together (without stock overload spring thing)

Bolt in Fox shocks, mount resevoir

Tighten everything up

Jack up axle

Remove jack stands

Lower axle

Rear is done?



Go get alignment

Drive around and enjoy

Mine are marked quite clearly. Stated in white on each spring. Not much help to you, but Greg Boardman should know if they stopped telling you driver from passenger side. I believe it was on the bottom coil or close to it. It has been awhile. Anyway you got the "enjoy" right.

Do you have to pressurize those shocks with nitrogen, or do the already come filled?

Not sure about the rear reservoirs, mine came mounted to the shock body. The front reservoirs mount directly to the frame. It seems a little weird at first, but it does fit. Loosely attach the bracket to the res. Extend it forward and push it tight to the frame with out putting excess stress on the hose, adjust up and down for best fit and mark the bracket. My reservoirs ended up with the front bottom edge of the res. (schrader valve end) about 3/4" to 1" above the weld on the sway bar bracket, with the rear of the res. body tilting up towards the shock tower at about 45 degrees. Depending on your hose length, yours could differ.

Yes, they do come pre-charged with nitrogen, and Yes, they are at San Filipe. I tried to call Greg on Friday and his message says that they are racing this weekend.

Johnathan, do you have the VR coils? They are not marked for driver/passenger like the HD Diesel Coils, thus either will go on either side.

As for the reservoirs. Make sure there is play in the hose to allow the shock to move left to right. The fronts go at a downward angle towards the swaybar.



The rears mount to the bed support piece in front of spare tire and right behind the tank.



The minipacks replace just the single overload(1 inch thick bar). Keep the small spacers and keep them on the bottom of the pack.



Use the overload to snap the front bump stops in, they are super stiff, and this helps them go in easier, along with spraying them with WD-40.



Greg and Kent are down in San Felipe this weekend, and he will be back SUnday morning sometime, to get ready for another trip to Death Valley I believe.

I have received my Chase system and the instruction booklet seems thorough and complete. You don't need to guess beforehand what to do, as far as I can tell from reading it. The coils are marked l and r on 2nd gens but are interchangeable on 3rd gens, according to the instruction book.

Joe, only the HD diesel coils are specific to driver/passenger sides. The VR coils can go either way, and such are only for 3rd gens. Did you get VR coils? I just put my CHASE on this past week, and it works great. No airtime yet, but I found some new launch spots I will be visiting real soon.

Awesome, thanks for the answers guys. Yes, I do have the VR CTD coils and that's the only markings, so it's good to know I don't have to worry about which goes where.

Joe, good choice for the weight you have hanging out front. I had regular HD Diesel coils on my 03, and it worked good, but the VR's would have been nice to have then.



DD, it was time for a new project, and a couple of trucks just popped into place, and I made the switch. That and a few other reasons. I needed a shop more than I wanted the 03.



The new owner has one nice truck setup right, and hopefully will enjoy it for a long time.



Now Joe, get out there and get the system on. It takes even less time on a 3rd gen.

Yes, pix and write up are planned. I'm waiting for the snow to melt, literally. Supposed to warm up to about 70 deg Thu or Fri. A couple other NMTDR guys promised to help with the heavy stuff. Man, it is amazing how heavy the coils are, compared to Oldsmobile stuff I'm used to rasslin' into place.

Quality and design seem first rate but the stuf is still on the floor. I hope to know soon how good the directions are, and the fit and performance. Doubleclutch is way out on the Calif coast enjoying the sunshine. Come to Albuquerque and enjoy the snow, wind, and freezing temperatures for a couple days. I'll watch, and take pictures First part of last week we had 70 deg and springtime, Where did summer go?

I probabably should not admit it,but I didn't read the directions on the 05 or the 94 install. Both were straight forward and were done in the driveway at home.

Instructions are just the manufacturer's recommendations on how their product should be used or installed. :-laf

I like to do things my way, too...
