Kore installed - *updated pics* & comments

*Daytime pics have been added.

The lift:

Kore was awesome, got the Chase system to me in 3 days.

The tires:

Parnelli Jones 35x12. 50x17's from NTW.

The dropoff:

Dropped it off, they said they had never heard of Kore. Not a surprise. I told them it was a simple kit to install, new coils and mini-leaf pack basically, so they said OK.

The pickup after the install:

The shop had parked it at an angle taking up like 2. 5 spaces by the main road... obviously showing off their work, which was fine by me. It looked sweet! I was really happy, they did a good job. Mounted the shock resevoirs perfectly too. :D

So I walk in:

Guy A: Man, that's a really nice kit.

Me: Thank you, that makes me feel better, it was pretty pricey.

Guy B: Yea, we know, we called 'em. We had to know. Man, that truck rides so much nicer than any of the other lift kits we deal with.

Me: Really? I was hoping you'd say that. I decided to go with something a little better than usual on this truck, so that's good to hear.

The drive:

So now that my confidence was up, I go hop up into the truck and take her for a spin. The first thing I notice... I need gears! I can survive like this for a year or so, but she's hurting, even with my QuadXZT on. Gonna load up the Bullydog 90hp setting tomorrow and see if it's any better. It's not THAT bad, but ya just gotta give it some fuel.

So I'm cruising down the road, feeling like I'm towering above everyone, and it just drives so smooth. It's not "better" than stock on the road, but it's certainly not any worse. My neighbor went for a spin and said, "Man, this monster drives just like when you got it. I ain't ever ridden in a lifted truck that drives this nice. " (No, I ain't a Kore salesman, I'm serious). The ride is a bit stiffer, no doubt about that, but she really does just cruise like stock, aside from being a little more top heavy than before. It's everything I was hoping for and worth every penny IMO.

Bumpy roads:

So the past few days I've been going down bumpy roads to get a feel of the stock bumpiness. So now that Kore was on, I went over those same streets. You know the ones, where construction is still going on and there's potholes and patches everywhere. So I drive down those, and while you can tell the tires are a heck of a lot heavier than stock, the truck just glides over everything just as well, if not better, than stock on the bumpy roads. I hit a few of those big hole dips where it definitely absorbed better than stock, albeit stiffer. So I'm impressed, and very pleased.

Overall opinion:

I've had several lifted vehicles, but I haven't lifted in 4 years out of fear of getting that "lifted ride," but the Kore suspension really is better than any other I've been in before. If you can take the top heaviness of a lifted truck and are able to slow down for those turns, then I personally don't feel I sacrificed anything as far as ride goes.

We'll see how she does over the next few days though, I've only driven it for 2 hours. Oo.

Better pics to come tomorrow when I see daylight.

What tire pressure you running? I'm running 50 front 45 rear on the Toyos and the street ride is much better. Congrats on your suspension!

How noisy are the tires? I know those PJs are pretty agressive.

Super quiet! I am so surprised, much quieter than my BFG MT's. My girl was on the phone with me and was like, "Why don't I hear the tires?" I'm like, I don't know, I really don't either. " Oo.

They aren't as aggressive as most mud tires I don't think, as they're more of a tire/all terrain hybrid from looking at them. They just got some tread on the sidewalls that make 'em look meaner.

Slow down for corners, top heavy. Never heard that from anyone with a KORE. If anything, it gives better control at all speeds, and especially around corners.

Give it time, you'll find you can drive it faster, and not realize it. Now go find a big speed bump, and hit it at 40, and see what you think. The suspension will just eat it up.

I only had the KORE leveling kit and 35" Toyo MT's. I totally agree that it feels top heavy on turns. From a physics standpoint when you raise the truck, you raise the center of gravity as well. Makes sense. :-laf

I ended up deciding that the benefits just didn't outweigh the negatives for my use of my truck and went back to stock. . I told you 35's w/ 3. 73s and a 48re makes for an unhappy truck... :-laf

I have to agree with Fred on this one. My "Pace" carves through corners better than stock could hope to. The "T-Rex" King was an animal through the same corners :D . Had some fun with a kid in a lifted Chevy who thought an "Oscar Fox Trot" in a Dodge could be shown a lesson... Wasn't able to pass me in the straights due to traffic (I cruise @60 in a 55 zone), but couldn't keep up in the curves. And I wasn't pushing it.

That's what they make gear swaps for. ;) I did 'em on my last 2 Dodge's, and I'll do it on this one before I go back to stock. Oo. Looks like it's gonna have to be 4. 10's though.

JonathanBurk. . I don't have the facility, tools or time to install a CHASE system, but I do have family in Memphis... . who did your install ? Would you recommend them?

To me, that is the most amazing thing about the Kore. It has totally taken body roll out of the equation. This truck goess around curves at high speed like it is on rails. Of course this is with the stock 17's. The other thing I like most is that the "dually harshness" is compleltly gone!

kowaliga,

The place I went for this install was not my usual place, but after going there the past two times, I think they're my new shop. In the past I have stuck to 4x4 places, like Adventure Offroad or John Walls. Well Adventure Offroad went out of business, and John Walls has terrible customer service, so I went to Xtreme Auto Accessories on Stage Rd. I wasn't even sure if they could do it, but man they did an awesome job, and their service is top notch.

Jonathan,

Were you able to get before and after measurements from the wheel to the fender to establish actual lift height?

ohnoitsyu,

Unfortunately I forgot to do it, but the shop took measurements before and after, they said it was just under 3" of lift that it gave me in the front. Like 2. 8" of lift. Mine was the variable rate CTD coils. As I understand it, Kore has some other coils too which are side specific.

Yea, don't get me wrong, the problem here is not the lift. Usually when you lift a truck what do you do? You get wider rims & tires. Me, I just got wider tires on the stock rims so the extra "training wheels" like balance isn't there for the curves as it usually would.

With that said, the thing drives great, but common laws of nature says you make something taller and not wider, you are going to be somewhat more prone to roll.

All things are possible through money. :-laf If you don't mind to keep sinking money into it then you can get it right eventually. Myself, being the idiot I am didn't realize that I had opened Pandoras box when I started bombing. I spent $10,000 on extras in the first 9 months, but I got sick of having to buy this and that to fix a problem that I had created by adding something. . It just never ended and all the while I was making my truck less efficient and not really adding any real value to the truck. . Sorry for my rant. :D

The 4. 10's should help you a lot though.

I hear that Coolslice, lucky for me I do have my limits. :-laf For example, the only things I would even want right now:

4. 10 gear swap

New DTT Transmission so I can run the Bullydog crazy larry program, maybe stacked with my Quad XZT

Step bars

12,000 lbs. winch

17x9" rims

After that, I should be golden. LOL! Oo.

I know you said it was aprox. 2. 8" of lift but could you give me the total height of your truck with the tires on. I want to be able to get in a 7' garage after the lift.

BTW Truck looks good
